Candidate Profile – 2023 Alumni Council Election

Franklin Crump, 2009

Franklin Crump

Marlboro was a very important part of my development as an adult, from when I arrived in 1999, through my breaks and returns, my graduation in 2007, to the 2008/2009 academic year, when I sat in on RLP to see if I was still capable of academic work after a traumatic brain injury. The Town Meeting structure was one of the biggest things that attracted me to Marlboro. I served on many different committees as a student, and I regret that I wasn’t able to take on an active role in the fight to save Marlboro, or in the creation of the alumni council. I am now able to devote more time to this kind of thing and would love to serve the community that gave me so much. I think that one of the most important things to focus on in the early years of an association like this is firmly establishing a foundation, and structures to retain institutional knowledge. I also think that maintaining a relationship with the music festival and the physical campus should be a priority, as well as organizing both virtual and in-person get togethers.
