Candidate Profile – 2023 Alumni Council Election

Carrie Cleveland, 2002

Carrie Cleveland

I'm excited for this opportunity to run for a seat on the Marlboro College Alumni Association Council. Thank you for taking a moment to read this statement. I'm a graduate of the class of '02 living in Montpelier, VT, with my husband and fellow Marlboro alum, Xavier Massot ('00). Marlboro was the place where I had the opportunity to both hone my own curiosity and feel what it's like to be in spaces with people who are just as passionate as you. I still miss overhearing bits of something fascinating while waiting in line in the Dining Hall. My career has been focused in nonprofit arts administration, and I've spent much of my professional work embedded in and examining the emergency cycle: preparedness, emergency, recovery, and mitigation. I feel like our community is coming out of an emergency era of grappling with change and I see us now in an opportunity-filled space, where we can find new ways to build connections amongst those who love Marlboro, as well as participate in the inspiring and buoying projects happening on Potash Hill, like the Studio School. I appreciate the work of those who have been leading the charge to figure out what an alumni community can look like in this era and it would be my honor to help keep that work moving forward. Thank you for your time and consideration.
